A LAST post will be played in Tyldesley this weekend as part of a UK-wide commemoration of the First World War.

Cadence Café CIC will join hundreds of groups across the country in a musical tribute on Sunday at 11am that will remember First World War history and see the Last Post played on a variety of different instruments.

It is part of a centenary project called The Last Post, one of more than 200 commemorative events which are being held across the UK to mark 100 years since the outbreak of war on Remembrance Sunday.

Cadence director Ian Jackson said: “This is a cause close to the nation’s heart and mine. We wanted to do something traditional all the while showing how proud and grateful we are of our troops, past and present.”
