PUPILS at Westleigh High School have been exploring space.
Year seven students were treated to a presentation from Mike Brown, Academic Director for Siemens, who explained his vast experience in the space industry.
Students attended space themed sessions throughout the day in science, maths, technology and ICT and designed and made their own prototype rockets.
They were also treated to several demonstrations looking at how rocket fuel is made and watched a model rocket being launched 600 feet into the sky above school.
Head teacher John Banks said: “These days help to inspire students to become Scientists of the future.
“If students can have a day devoted to one particular topic like this, they can enjoy designing a model and then create a working version of it.
“Hopefully they will develop their interest in Science and understand how Science is a part of everyday life.”
