WITNESSES are still being sought after two robbers armed with a hammer stole cash from a Tyldesley bookmakers.

The pair entered Betfred in Elliott Street at about 6pm on December 21 and one of the men jumped over the counter and started demanding cash.

The terrified staff member showed him where the money was kept, and he emptied two tills while his accomplice chased another staff member from the building with a hammer.

The pair then fled along Elliott Street.

Both robbers were wearing all black clothes, with hoods up and balaclavas covering their faces. They were both slim and about 5ft 9in to 6ft tall.

Det Con Amelia Trimble said: “These men came armed and ready to use force to get what they wanted.

“Fortunately no one was hurt, but that should not detract from the seriousness of this crime.

“If you saw two men matching the above description in the area at the time, please contact police.”
