A THRILLER has been revealed as the most borrowed book from Leigh Library.

Never Go Back, the 18th novel featuring action hero Jack Reacher, was borrowed 121 times from the library with its author Lee Child also proving the most popular in general with a total of 887 of his books being borrowed between January and November 23.

Following closely behind Child is fellow thriller author James Patterson whose books were borrowed 630 times followed by Susan Lewis (369), David Baldacci (223) and Peter James (165).

Martina Cole’s Revenge was the second most popular book, which was borrowed 87 times followed by Josephine Cox The runaway woman (84), Robert Crais The Watchman (83) and Michael Connelly The Gods of Guilt (82).

The figures were obtained from Wigan Council under Freedom of Information rules.

They also showed that The Cuckoo’s Calling by J.K Rowling under the pen name Robert Galbraith was the most borrowed book from Atherton Library (44), followed by Kathy Reichs Virals (38) and Cole’s Revenge (37).

Tyldesley Library’s most borrowed books were The Kill List by Frederick Forsyth and Fear Nothing by Lisa Gardener, both borrowed 67 times.

They were followed by Linwood Barclay Fear The Worst (60), James Want You Dead (57) and Mark Billingham The Bones Beneath (48).

Patterson was the most borrowed author from Tyldesley and Atherton libraries with 251 and 257 borrowed from each respectively.

Behind him was Nora Roberts (118), Camilla Lackberg (79), Peter Robinson (78) and Danielle Steel (72) at Atherton Library and James (155), Jo Nesbo (114), Steel (96) and Baldacci (96).

Living with Lions and Percy Jackson: Sea Monsters were the most borrowed DVDs from Leigh Library, both lent 41 times.

Fitness DVD Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred was the most borrowed from Tyldesley Library (31) and Thor: The Dark World the most popular at Atherton (15).
