A YOUNG girl has raised £252 for charity by having her first hair cut.

Meghan Davies had never been to the hairdresser before she had about 10 inches cut off her hair in order to donate it the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes wigs for poorly children.

Her mum Catherine, who had always Meghan’s hair for her, suggested the nine-year-old Lowton St Luke’s pupil donate her hair to charity after she was struggling to brush her long lock one morning before school.

Each wig costs about £2,000 to make so Meghan wanted to raise £150 as well to contribute to the cost.

Catherine, of High Street, Golborne, said: “She absolutely loves her new hairstyle and the fact it takes less than a minute to brush it in the morning.

“So much so that on the last week at school she was one of the first on the playground every day, normally we are always last.”
