A VANDAL has been jailed for 12 weeks for a series of offences including damaging smoke alarms at a property in Leigh.

David Gregory, aged 34, ripped off three fire alarms from a Bass Holdings property where he was a tenant, causing damage worth £220 on September 30.

He pleaded guilty to the offence at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates at an earlier hearing and was sentenced there in Monday 29.

He was also sentenced for causing £1,000 worth of damage to property owned by Greater Manchester Police.

Gregory, of Burns Avenue, Leigh, visited Wigan Police Station about another matter and became abusive and aggressive to staff who told him to leave.

He then kicked out at an internal door to the front desk area causing damage to the door on November 15.

Alongside this he pleaded guilty to damaging a window at Crispy Cod takeaway in Rochdale and a door at Premier Off Licence on June 28 and the intent to cause harassment, alarm and distress to Anthony Kemp in Rochdale on August 12.

He was also sentenced on December 29 for threatening a man in Bolton and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at a Post Office in London.
