MORE than 30 dogs have been microchipped for free.
Dogs Trust Education ran an event at Higher Folds Community Centre as part of responsible dog ownership project in Leigh and Higher Folds.
The project will also see young people from Bedford High School's Alternative Curriculum group making a short film in the spring that will gain them accreditation in the form of Mozilla Digital Badges.
Anna Baatz, Dogs Trust education and community officer said: “Some of the young people from Higher Folds youth group and Bedford High involved in the project assisted us, it was fantastic to see the commitment and initiative they showed.
“These guys are the dog owners of the future so it was amazing to see how engaged they were with everything that being a responsible dog owner entails.”
Having your pet microchipped is one of the best ways to increase your pet’s chances of getting home and will be compulsory for all dogs from April 2016.
