From the Journal of January 26:
Cinemagoers had a wide choice of entertainment with nine cinemas advertising their latest films.
The Good Companions was showing at The Savoy at Atherton, The Silver Cord starring Irene Dunn was on at Leigh Hippodrome and at the Majestic in Tyldesley (now the town’s Pelican Centre swimming pool) Boris Karloff, billed as ‘King of the Eeries’, was putting the frighteners on viewers in The Ghoul.
