OUR pet of the week is 14-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross Alfie.
He lives on Stanley Street in Atherton with his owners Diane and Alan Kendall and their son John.
Diane, 55, said: “Alfie is very gentle and soft. He is quite old now but he has always been a great family dog.
“He is part of the family and we would be totally lost without him.
“Alfie is great with the grandchildren and he falls asleep with his head on their knees.
“We got him when he was just 18 months old from Leigh Dogs and Cats Home and we couldn’t have asked for a better dog.
“He has got arthritis now so needs a lot of care, but he is worth it.”
If you want your pet to feature send a picture of them with your name, contact details and information about your pet and the photograph to newdesk@leighjournal.co.uk.
