FRED Longworth High School’s head teacher is ‘delighted’ after 70 per cent of GCSE students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.
There were some stunning individual performances at the Tyldesley school, with a number of students enjoying a sweep of A and A* grades.
Star pupils Megan Walsh and Lauren Dawes were particularly pleased after earning a perfect set of grades, with 11 A*s.
Megan said: “I have worked really hard for this, but was shocked at the results.
“The teachers were really supportive and I would not have done it without them.”
Many students said they now look forward to a bright future at college and beyond.
Head teacher Mrs J Garretts said: “We are delighted that our students have achieved so highly and I would like to congratulate each and every one of them for what has been achieved.
“I wish them all the very best for the next step in their careers.
“All the hard work of staff and students has certainly paid off.”
