A PROFESSIONAL rugby league player has been re-bailed by police following his arrest on suspicion of theft and assaulting a police officer in Leigh.
Scott Moore, who plays for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the Super League, was arrested in the early hours of October 14 after a high speed police chase ended in a 'significant struggle' which left an officer with a broken wrist.
Police spotted a Mercedes sports car driving at speed on the East Lancashire Road shortly before 4am.
The pursuit came to an end on Arrow Street, Leigh, and police confirmed a Taser was used during the struggle.
Mr Moore, 28, was taken to hospital for treatment following his arrest and was released on police bail until Saturday, December 3.
He has now been re-bailed until March 10, after the start of the 2017 Super League season.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "A 28-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of theft and serious police assault has been re-bailed until March 10, pending further enquiries."
Wakefield say they are continuing an investigation, with chairman Michael Carter declining to comment on whether the former St Helens, Castleford, Huddersfield, Widnes and London Broncos hooker has been suspended.
