POLICE have released CCTV video footage of a woman being abducted and robbed in a bid to bring the men responsible to justice.

The 42-year-old woman was grabbed by three men as she walked along Peel Lane in Astley at around 12.30am on Monday, September 19.

She was forced into the back of a white Transit van and the men used a cloth to cover her face and stifle her screams.

The van was driven to the Old Boat House pub on Higher Green Lane, where two of the men ordered her to hand over cash.

The woman was then punched in the face twice during a struggle with the offenders.

Threats were also made to throw her into the nearby canal.

Officers have been appealing for information that may lead to the identification of the men since the incident occurred and are hoping that releasing the CCTV footage will lead to a breakthrough.

Detective constable Jessica Samouelle, of Greater Manchester Police's Wigan borough division, said: “This was a violent and terrifying ordeal for the woman which left her utterly traumatised.

“She suffered physical and emotional harm as a result of this prolonged incident and we are determined to secure justice for her.

“We are continuing our investigation and I am appealing to anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV footage to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 55 of September 19, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
