A MAN from Leigh has been given an 18-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months after admitting an assault.
James Finch, of Poets Nook, pleaded guilty to attacking another man on February 9 when he appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Court lists show that magistrates considered the offence to be particularly serious as a knife was brandished.
As well as being given a suspended prison sentence Finch was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and comply with a rehabilitation activity requirement.
The 33-year-old also has to pay £100 compensation, £85 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
