A FOUR-year-old girl who is fighting cancer has hair again after being given a fairytale surprise from her favourite Disney characters.

Ellie Rieveley lost her hair after being diagnosed with acute lymphblastic leukemia in November and beginning a two-year course of chemotherapy treatment.

She is a huge fan of Frozen and was delighted to be visited by the hit Disney film's princesses Elsa and Anna, who presented her with a specially-made wig.

Her mum Leanne said: “Ellie was amazed when they arrived at our house

“She always likes to watch Frozen and dress up like Anna, so when she saw her it really made Ellie's day."

A video of the special visit on March 26 has been seen by people all over the world on social media.

It was arranged by Southport-based children's entertainment company Starkidz and the Rapunzel wig for youngsters with sensitive scalps following chemotherapy was made by the Magic Yarn Project charity in America.

Leanne added: "Ellie is a typical girly girl who loves singing and dancing.

“It was great to see all the lovely comments of encouragement about the video.

“She has gone through a tough time so the visit from princesses Elsa and Anna was just what she needed.”

Ellie spent five weeks in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital following her cancer diagnosis.

She was discharged from the hospital on Leanne's birthday in December.

Leanne said: "When she was in hospital having treatment she was very withdrawn and didn’t want to speak, which was completely out of character.

“Usually she is the life and soul of the room so it was a shock to see how sad she was at the time.

“Thankfully she is doing really well now and the prognosis is looking good.

“Hopefully when Ellie has recovered we can start doing normal things, like planning holidays as a family.”

Ellie lives with Leanne, her dad Ben and her brothers Stanley, six, and nine-month-old Chester in Astley.

With the aggressive nature of chemotherapy often leaving children’s scalps too sensitive for traditional wigs, Leanne spotted a post about the free, soft and comfortable Magic Yarn Project wigs made for young cancer sufferers online and got in touch with Starkidz to see if she could get one for Ellie.
