A COMEDY with thrilling overtones will round off a successful 2016-17 season for Tyldesley Little Theatre (TLT).

Written by sitcom legend Eric Chappell, Theft is sure to intrigue as well as raise laughs at the Lemon Street theatre from Tuesday, May 16, to Saturday, May 20.

The play is directed by the theatre's chairperson Jenny Whur and tells the story of two couples apprehending a burglar after returning from a night out.

They soon begin to wish they hadn’t as he commences to disrupt two seemingly happy marriages and reveal certain uncomfortable truths about their honesty.

Veteran writer Eric has a renowned talent for both comedies and thrillers, as TLT’s past successes Natural Causes and Dead Reckoning show.

Jenny has also proved herself to be adept at both comedy and thriller productions, including the multi award nominated Third Week in August and last season’s Par for the Course which saw Jodie Brown win the Greater Manchester Drama Federation's best actress under the age of 21 award.

She has previously directed Eric's big hits Summer End and Haywire.

Theft features the talents of popular performers Alex Clarke, Ian Hunter, Ingrid Folkard-Evans and Hannah Boardman as well newcomer Ian Pattison.
