A PLANNING application has been submitted for an old doctors surgery to be turned into a house.
The former Direct Access Surgery in Leigh was closed by the building's owner Dr Daya Nand Das in December, who run the surgery for 21 years, as there were no other GPs serving there who could take over.
Dr Das has sent a change-of-use application to Wigan Council to convert the property into a house with a final decision expected on September 27.
Patients of the old Church Street surgery were notified by NHS Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group of the closure last year to give them time to find a new practice to register at.
A neighbourhood consultation, which is currently taking place to discuss the application, will finish on September 9.
