A GROUP of 10 women have cycled 50 miles between them in 90 minutes in a bid to help find a cure for a killer disease.
The women, who are all members of the Leigh and district club at Soroptimist International, completed the fundraising challenge using exercise bikes at Sporting Lodge Inns in Leigh.
They raised £826 for the Joining Jack charity that was set up to fund effective treatments for duchenne muscular dystrophy, a severe muscle wasting disease.
Gill Bowyer, who organised the challenge, said “We are delighted to have raised such a large sum for such a worthwhile charity and cannot thank the staff enough for their help.
“Club members would also like to offer a huge thank you to the many people who sponsored individual Soroptimists.”
Businesses and individuals also donated raffle prizes in aid of the Joining Jack charity.
The Leigh and district club is part of Soroptimist International, the world’s largest women’s service organisation.
