A DRINK driver who assaulted a woman has been handed a prison sentence of eight weeks suspended for 12 months.
Mathew Emmison, of Defiance Street, Atherton, was found guilty of beating the woman in the town on June 23 after a trial at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court which concluded on October 4.
The 33-year-old, who admitted to being more than two times over the drink-driving limit on the same day as assaulting the woman, was banned from holding a driving licence for two years when he appeared in court on Friday for sentencing.
