RESIDENTS are being warned to be vigilant about 'bogus workmen' after a spate of incidents reported to the police including thefts.

There have been reports in the Hindley area from residents who have said workmen have entered their homes and stole items.

In other cases, people have reported that they have been overcharged for work not completed or finished to a very poor standard.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "Please remember to keep your doors locked even when you are in the house.

"If you have a door chain or spy hole please use them before answering the door."

If you have any concerns about bogus officials contact the police on 101.
