A MAN has been remanded in custody after admitting to three theft offences and being convicted of possession of a knife.

Stephen Geoffrey Williams, 38, appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Friday (November 24).

He was found guilty of possession of a three-inch wooden handled knife on June 18 at the Best One store, Leigh.

Williams pleaded guilty to an assault, three counts of theft from supermarkets in Leigh and use of threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at a supermarket.

Meanwhile, he has also denied one count of stealing £230 of meat from a superstore and an assault.

Williams will next appear on Wednesday, November 29.
