BIG name employers flocked to Wigan and Leigh College's annual careers fair to offer an insight into the future for students.

BBC staff attended two of the college's three centres to deliver workshops on employability skills as well as giving advice about what qualities the national broadcaster looks for in job applicants.

Former engineering students, who now have careers as at Sellafield Ltd, also returned to inspire young people to follow in their footsteps.

BBC manager of staffing and business, Glen Bertram, said: “The students were interested and engaging.

"I enjoy preparing young people as I know it is going to help them as they move into an apprenticeship or employment.

"Within all sectors there are niche jobs that young people might have not been aware of before."

Other big names that attended at the fair include global construction firm ISG, Volvo Cars UK, different military organisations such as the RAF and Army as well as Adactus Housing Group Ltd.

Employers visited Wigan and Leigh College's three bases over the course of a week.

Leigh College's open day was on January 23, Parsons Walk Centre hosted their visit the following day and the Pagefield Centre's event was on Wednesday.
