A CHURCH has launched an appeal to give its visitors a warmer welcome.
Atherton Parish Church is hoping to have a new heating system installed to provide a more comfortable space for people who use the building.
The boilers at the Market Place church are more than 40 years ago with some of them not fit for purpose.
Rev Sinclair said: “People who come into the church often mention the coldness.
“We would like to make sure the warmth of the temperature matches the welcome they receive.
“Atherton and Leigh Foodbank has a distribution centre in the hall so it be nice to make it more comfortable for people who come in for something to eat.
“I think it would also encourage more people to hold events at the church too.”
A Crowdfunding page has been set up to raise money for a new heating system.
Rev Sinclair added: “A new heating system will also help to protect the building and ensure it is there for future generations.”
