PLANS have been revealed to make 92 extra car parking spaces available at a borough hospital this Spring.
There will be 20 new spaces available at Wigan Royal Albert Edward Infirmary outside the Christopher Home building ready for March.
A further 72 spots will be available in May where the old pathology lab was before it was demolished.
Head of capital and property services for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust (WWL), Ian Bradley, said: “The trust is obviously very pleased to be able to offer our patients and visitors increased access to car parking spaces.
“We are always keen to look at further opportunities to improve parking and accessibility.
“There will obviously be some temporary disruption and loss of spaces while the works are carried out but we hope that people will bear with us during this time.”
The trust has also recently introduced concessions for oncology patients who attend regular treatment, people going to clinics for a a minimum of one day a week for an extended period of time, and visitors of casualties who have been hospitalised for more than two weeks.
Cancer Care Centre patients will also receive dedicated parking spaces.
