A MUM-of-two is taking on a challenge to raise awareness of a community group close to her heart.

Sharron Boylan, from Atherton, is running the Simplyhealth Great Manchester 10k on May 20 in aid of mental health group Your Choice, which run classes at the Old King Street Methodist School on King Street.

Her mother-in-law Linda Boylan, 58, attends the sessions- which include art and photography classes- on a regular basis to help her cope with bipolar disorder.

Sharron, 38, said: “She has been going to the classes for quite a few years now and goes three or four times a week.

“Linda has made a lot of friends by going to the group and really enjoys the classes they have organise.

“People who go to the sessions can be themselves and talk to people who may be experiencing similar problems to her.”

Sharron completed her first two running events last year after finishing the Leigh Community 10K and a Race for Life Pennington Flash Country Park 5K run.

Sharron, who works at Tesco Superstore in Atherton, said: “It would be great to raise awareness of the work that the group does.

“It needs as much support as it can get to and hopefully I can help with this running event.”

A crowdfunding page has been set up by Sharron to raise money for Your Choice.
