A MOTHER and daughter from Leigh are set to appear in court today, Friday, to face two charges of animal cruelty.
Gail Bradshaw, 64, and Nicola Bradshaw, 29, both of Minehead Avenue, will be at Preston Magistrates' Court for the start of a two-day trial in which they have been accused of causing unnecessary suffering to two dogs on different dates.
The first charge relates to causing suffering to a West Highland White Terrier called Poppy by not providing proper and necessary care and attention for her chronic and severe skin condition on a day or dates from April 1, 2015, and September 29, 2017.
The second is the same charge to a dog of the same breed named Holly on a day or days from November 29, 2016 and September 29, 2017.
The trial is expected to conclude on Monday.
The two dogs are in RSPCA care until the outcome has been settled.
