A MINING art exhibition will open at The Turnpike Centre on Saturday.
Mary Griffith’s work will include drawings based on the headgear and winding machine of the former Astley Green Colliery.
The exhibition, entitled Wild Honey, will also feature images based on the Lancashire Mining Museum, which now stands on the site, as well as bird and plants that live there.
Griffiths has created displays with colours that reflect the engine and the old landscape.
She has also used fossils of plants and animals that lived in the forests and swamps of Lancashire 300 million years ago as her inspiration.
Entry for the exhibition is free and it will be open Tuesdays to Fridays from 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays between 10am to 2pm.
The exhibition will be held at the centre until Saturday, May 26.
