A SECOND World War bitter sweet comedy is set to be performed by the Tyldesley Little Theatre (TLT) group.

The group are performing five consecutive nights of And A Nightingale Sang at their Lemon Street base from Tuesday, May 15 to Saturday, May 19 from 7.30pm each night which TLT stalwart Margaret Speakes will direct.

It will follow the lives of a Manchester working class family during the war and explores how they deal with their personal relationships, troubles and situations that they find themselves in.

A cast of Cathryn Megan Hughes, Ian Hunter, Joyce Elder, Adrian White, Sally Mason, Matt Walshaw and Alex Clarke will take to the stage.

A performance of the play was also shown in at the Tyldesley theatre in 1994.
