VOLUNTARY organisations gathered at Leigh Sports Village for an NHS trust’s annual equality and diversity event.
The North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Trust hosted the event which showcased its work in diversity across the organisation.
A member of staff called Danni spoke about her experience of transitioning from male to female while working for the trust and the support she has received from management and her colleagues.
She has told her story in a song called “Danni’s Song”.

Chief nurse and director of operational clinical services at the trust, Gail Briers, also delivered a presentation about the importance of equality and diversity throughout its decision-making.
Attendees on the day also discussed other case studies from across the trust.
The equality and diversity event took place on Monday, May 21.
It was based on a system commissioned by the national Equality and Diversity Council in 2010 to help NHS organisations to improve the services they provide for communities taking into consideration health inequalities and providing working environments free of discrimination.
