CULCHETH Eagles ran a successful festival promoting girls’ rugby league on Saturday.
With a large emphasis being placed on the female game around Warrington in the lead-up to Rugby League World Cup 2021, Eagles’ event could not have been more timely.
Culcheth’s newly formed under 12s team played their first match against players selected from Orrell St James, Ashton Bears and Leigh Miners at the end of their tournament at Shaw Street playing fields.
Coaching tips and a Q&A session were provided by England internationals Faye Gaskin and Chantelle Crowl, Warrington Wolves player Ben Pomeroy offered his support and a number of newcomers were attracted to the event to give rugby league a try.
