RESIDENTS are being urged to fill in their Household Enquiry Forms.

It shows the names of people registered to vote at their address and people are asked to check the forms and confirm if any changes need to be made.

If residents are posting the form it needs to be returned by August 27.

The deadline to phone or register online is September 3.

Chief executive and electoral registration officer at Wigan Council, Donna Hall, said: “By law every household must respond.

"It is so important that everyone who is eligible makes sure they are on the electoral register.

“It’s vital that residents make sure they are signed up as the electoral register is used for credit checks and if you are not on the register you may find it harder to get a loan, mortgage, finance agreement or even a mobile phone contract.

“It’s really easy and quick to complete and as part of The Deal we encourage as many people as possible to have their say by making their voice heard at the ballot box.”

To register by phone contact 0800 1979871 or visit householdresponse.com/wigancouncil quoting the two part security codes on the form.

A reminder will be sent out to people in September who do not complete the forms.

Information on the electoral register needs to be changed online or by post.
