THE birth of a baby girl has extended a family in Leigh to five generations.

When Lily Ameilia Clarke was born eight weeks ago she was named after her great great grandma, 96-year-old Lily Rybacki, who lives at Lyndhurst Care Home on College Street.

Baby Lily's mum, Laura, 29, grandma Dawn Gray, 52, and great grandma Marlene Fahy, 75, complete the family line quintet.

Mum-of-two Dawn said: "It has always been Laura's dream to have a daughter and name her after her great grandma.

"As a family we are very pleased that this has happened while Lily is still with us.

"She only moved into Lyndhurst three years ago and done very well to live on her own for 30 years when her husband Tadeaus died."

Lily has lived in Leigh all her life including homes on Glebe Street, Diamond Street and Ruby Grove.

In her career, she worked as a cleaner at the old Leigh Technical College on Railway Road.

She met Tadeaus, who was from Poland, in Southport at the age of 18.

Lily has a total of three children, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and, of course, one great great grandchild.
