DETECTIVES investigating a rape at a nature reserve have released an e-fit of three people they wish to speak to.

The renewed appeal follows the attack that happened at around 2.15pm on Sunday, February 18.

Police were called to Amberswood Nature Reserve, Hindley at the junction of Manchester Road (A577) and Seaman Way to reports that a woman had been raped.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was walking along a path through a wooded area when she was followed by two men.

As she turned a corner, two other men were stood in front of her.

The woman was then raped.

The offenders are described as four white men, aged between 18 and 30 and at least two were of slim build.

In the months that have passed since the incident, officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries and forensic analysis.

Police are now appealing for anyone who recognises the people in the efits to get in touch.

Detective Constable Lee Jamieson, of GMP’s Wigan Borough, said: “Since this incident happened we have been carrying out numerous lines of enquiries but have so far been unable to identify those responsible.

“We are keen to speak with the people pictured in the efits as part of our ongoing investigation and I would ask anybody who recognises them to please get in touch.

“Understandably this incident caused a lot of concern in the community at the time but I want to assure the public that we are continuing to do everything we can to find the men responsible and bring them to justice.”
