TWO drink drivers have been banned after being more than two times over the limit.

David Makuwa, of Derby Road, Golborne, registered a reading of 78 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was breathalysed after being stopped on Twist Lane in Leigh on September 22. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

The 41-year-old has been disqualified for 40 months which may be reduced by 40 weeks if he completes a course.

He has also been fined £200 and ordered to pay a victim services surcharge fee of £30 as well as court costs of £85.

Samantha Oakes, of Edmund Drive, Leigh, was found with 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when she was breathalysed on Greenough Street in Wigan on September 27.

The 19-year-old has been banned for driving for 17 months which may be reduced by 17 weeks if she completes a course.

She has been ordered to pay a victim services surcharge fee of £30 and court costs of £85.

Both defendants appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court yesterday, Wednesday.
