A MAN who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a house was set on fire has been released.
Police took a 34-year-old man into custody in Leigh on Saturday following an incident at a home on Montreal Street in Crankwood in the early hours of last Tuesday.
One of the windows at the property was smashed and flammable liquid was thrown inside and set alight.
A couple who live at the house managed to escape the fire but the woman- who is in her 60s- was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
It is believed she has suffered life-changing injuries.
After being questioned by officers, the man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
