A PAIR of seven-year-old twins have been honoured during a civic reception at the Town Hall.
Ruben and Elena Evans-Guillen, from Padgate, set themselves the challenge of running 100km during 2018 in order to raise funds for a new outdoor play area at Warrington Hospital.
Taking part in more than 43 running events during the year, the twins finished the event in September – raising more than £8,000.
The funds will go towards Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ Charity’s Making Waves appeal, which aims to raise £100,000 to create an aquatic-themed outdoor children’s play area.
More than £70,000 of this total has been raised so far.
On Tuesday, November 13, Ruben and Elena met with the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Karen Mundry during a civic reception at the Town Hall.
Dad Mark said: “For the kids, this is the main event of the whole year – they keep asking me if the Mayor is the richest person in the world.
“It’s a lovely occasion and a lovely way to rubber stamp the whole project.”
