AN application close a house following reports of anti-social behaviour has been granted.

The property at Wilkinson Street in Leigh has been subject to "significant anti-social behaviour" complaints according to Wigan Council.

The closure order states that anyone's name which is not on the document and enters or stays at the address, except for people from support services, is liable to a fine or a prison sentence.

A Wigan Council spokesman said: "We welcome the magistrates decision to put this closure order in place at an address on Wilkinson Street in Leigh.

"We know that any form of anti-social behaviour can have a disruptive effect on communities and we do our best to resolve issues where we can.

“Our ASB team will work closely with the community to safeguard them while also putting support measures in place to stop further issues arising in the future.

“Any form of anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.”

The order was granted at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Residents have been encouraged to report any breaches of the closure order to Greater Manchester Police on 101.
