NO further action will be taken against a Leigh man who was arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in St Helens last week.

At around 3.50am on Friday, November 9, police were called to reports of a man is his 20s being found with a serious arm injury on Westfield Street in St Helens town centre.

A 22-year-old man from Leigh was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and a 21-year-old woman from Wigan was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and both were taken to a police station for questioning.

A police spokeswoman said no further action taken is to be taken against the man.

Meanwhile, the woman was issued with a fixed penalty notice.
