PLANS have been submitted to turn a cafe into a flat.

A change-of-use application has been sent to Wigan Council to convert Beckie's Brekkies on Leigh Road in Leigh into a one-bedroom flat.

The property was bought by Bristol-based developer Timothy Snary in May, who mentions in the application that a few people viewed it on the basis of keeping it for commercial use.

But none of the prospective buyers took their interest further.

In discussing the effect that the change would make, the application states: "The impact on the area is absolutely minimal. Many shops along this road have been changed into residential.

"There are many shops which are much easier to access within walking distance and parking."

A neighbourhood consultation is in place until Friday with a decision expected to be made in December.
