A MAN has been jailed after assaulting a woman and harassing her repeatedly.

Nigel McDonough, of Chapel Green Road, Hindley, assaulted the woman on March 29 last year in Wigan.

The 30-year-old also damaged a TV and household items worth £670 in Leigh belonging to her on the same day.

He was found guilty of harassing her between April 25 and 28 by repeatedly making phone calls to her and threatening her.

Later on in the year between July 23 and August 1, McDonough harassed the woman by making repeated phone calls.

He breached a molestation order which was imposed on him by Wigan Family Court on September 10 when he called the victim on October 31 when he was on bail.

He was also admitted to making a phone call to another woman on November 12 when he was on bail which caused distress or anxiety to her.

McDonough was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a compensation fee of £870 at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on New Years Eve, Monday.

He has also been given restraining orders lasting until December 30, 2021.
