POLICE have released pictures of two men they want to speak to after a man suffered a fractured skull after being hit by a hammer.

The incident happened on Saddleback Road in Norley Hall when a woman in her 50s answered the door to two men who pushed their way into her home.

Her husband- also in his 50s- was viciously attacked by the men hammer-wielding duo.

As well as a fractured skull the man sustained injuries to his knee and was taken to hospital.

The attack took place at around 7pm on Monday, December 10.

The two men were wearing dark clothes and black hats which covered their ears.

They fled in the direction of City Road.

Since the incident officers have carried out extensive enquiries in the area and trawled through CCTV.

They have now released images of the men they want to speak to urgently.

Detective Constable Andrew Partington, from GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “This was an awful incident where a couple were threatened in their own home.

"Our thoughts remain with them while they recover from this ordeal.

“We are desperate to identify the men pictured and I would urge anyone who recognises them to please call police.

“I’d also speak directly to the men themselves, if this is you then please make contact with officers at the earliest opportunity.”
