A SECOND man who was arrested on suspicion of murder after a 21-year-old died following an assault in Abram has been bailed.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of murder.

Yesterday evening, Wednesday, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police were called to Bickershaw Lane on Friday, December 28 where 21-year-old Billy Livesley, from Platt Bridge, suffered serious injuries as a result of the assault and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

He died the following evening and a Home Office post mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was a significant head injury.

Peter Connor, 31, of Hollands Road, Hindley has been charged with murder.

He appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Monday.

The Honorary Recorder of Manchester, Judge Stockdale QC remanded Connor, who did not enter a plea, in custody.

There will be a further case management hearing at the court on February 4 and a trial has been listed to start on June 24.
