A DRINK driver who was more than three times over the drink driving limit has been handed a suspended sentence.

Victoria Verstraeten, of Blackburn Close, Lowton, registered a reading of 131 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breathe when she was breathalysed on Lilford Street in Leigh on December 23. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

The 50-year-old was given a three-month sentence suspended for one year and banned from driving for two years and eight months which may be reduced by 32 weeks if she completes a course.

She has also been ordered to pay a £115 victim services surcharge fee and court costs of £85.

Verstraeten was sentenced at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court yesterday, Wednesday.
