THOUSANDS of football fans took part in a round of applause yesterday afternoon, Sunday, in tribute to a 21-year Evertonian who died after being assaulted in December.

Everton Football Club asked supporters to clap in the 21st minute of their Premier League home game against Bournemouth in memory of Billy Livesley, from Platt Bridge.

Billy's family and friends were in attendance at the match with Everton sharing a picture on social media of them holding a banner stating: "R.I.P. Billy Livesley: "The million dollar smile".

Everton FC tweeted: "A brilliant round of applause from the sell-out Goodison crowd to remember Billy Livesley, who tragically passed away recently aged 21."

Billy died after an incident in which police were called to Bickershaw Lane in Abram on Friday, December 28 where Billy suffered serious injuries as a result of an assault.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died the following day in hospital with a Home Office post mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was a significant head injury.
