A MAN who was arrested in connection with the murder investigation of a 21-year-old man has been bailed.

Police were called by ambulance services on Friday, December 28 at around 9.35pm after Billy Livesley, from Platt Bridge, had been assaulted on Bickershaw Lane in Abram.

The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died from his injuries the following evening.

A Home Office post mortem examination found that the cause of death was a significant head injury.

Yesterday, Sunday, a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder but he has now been bailed.

Two men – aged 38 and 57 – were previously arrested on Saturday, December 29.

The 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 57-year-old was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit attempted murder.

The 38-year-old man has since been released with no further action and the 57-year-old man was released under investigation.

A 22-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, January 8 and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
