TWO men have been bailed after being arrested in connection with an arson investigation.
On New Year’s Day at around 10pm an accelerant was thrown at a house on Oxford Road in Atherton. No-one was injured but damage was caused to the front of the home.
Two days later, at around 3am on Thursday, January 3 police were sent to Oxford Road, where a transit van had been set alight.
Again, no-one was hurt but the vehicle was badly damaged.
Both incidents are being linked by detectives, who believe it was a targeted attack.
An 18-year-old man was arrested last week on suspicion of arson and a 20-year-old man was taken into custody for the same charge yesterday, Tuesday.
Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
If you have any information about either of the incidents contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
