A MAN has been charged for making threats to kill against a relative of a 21-year-old man who died after being assaulted.

James Anthony Connor, 37, of James Street, Atherton has been charged with the offence during the murder investigation of Billy Livesley.

Greater Manchester Police say the charge relates to a threat towards one of Billy's relatives.

James Anthony Connor has been remanded to appear at Bolton Crown Court on Tuesday, February 12.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 9.35pm on Friday, December 28 after Billy Livesley, from Platt Bridge, had been assaulted on Bickershaw Lane in Abram.

The victim was taken to hospital where he died the following evening with a Home Office post mortem examination finding that Billy died from a significant head injury.

A 57-year-old man previously arrested on Saturday, December 29 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit attempted murder was released under investigation.

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, January 8 has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Peter Connor, 31, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of Billy.

He appeared at Manchester Crown Court last week.

There will be a further case management hearing at the court on February 4 and a trial has been listed to start on June 24
