A MUSIC festival is returning this summer after organisers confirmed it has received financial backing.

Rock 'n' Stroll will take place at Lilford Park in Leigh on Saturday, July 27 where a host of bands will be playing throughout the day and a range of stalls will be set up.

The event has received backing from ward councillors' Brighter borough funding and anonymous sponsors.

Co-organiser of Rock 'n' Stroll David DuBois said: “With enormous support we have been able to secure funding to bring the popular Rock 'n' Stroll festival back to Lilford Park for another year.

"The event has always been well attended and we look forward to another successful festival for local people to enjoy."

The local authority is a big supporter of the festival.

Wigan Council deputy leader, Cllr, Keith Cunliffe, said “We have always supported the Rock 'n' Stroll music festival as it brings so much community pride and enjoyment to the area and is held one of our great local parks.

“The Leigh East councillors, including myself, Anita Thorpe, and Fred Walker and other councillors from the Leigh area have pledged some Brighter Borough funding, which will go towards the event, and we can’t wait to see what David and Bevan put together this year as each festival has been better than the last one.”

More details about the festival including the line-up will be announced later this year.
