MP Chris Green has raised residents' crime concerns in a parliamentary debate on anti-social behaviour.

The Bolton West and Atherton Conservative representative discussed incidents in the House of Commons which have happened in his constituency.

He has also called on more police funding for his area.

During the debate, Mr Green said: “My constituents tell me that they have witnessed a rise in both anti-social behaviour and in violent crime.

“In Atherton, especially, there have been some very serious instances of crime.

"There was a very serious stabbing incident at Atherton Library and there have been other instances of violent crime in the town."

Mr Green also said there is a "strong feeling locally" that other areas of Greater Manchester are receiving more support from police resources.

He recently wrote to Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham asking him to ensure his constituency receives a fair share of the £34.7m increase in police funding.

Greater Manchester deputy mayor Bev Hughes has said the Government has put pressure on the region to find funds for policing which will lead to the police precept going up by an average of £18.50 in households in the next financial year.
