THE sun shone for part of Sunday afternoon, but too late to save most of the BSF Over-35s matches.

Three games were played but nine were victims of waterlogged pitches, including five rearranged Divisional Cup games, which have been rescheduled for next Sunday with the Divisional Cup semi-finals put back to the following week.

In Division One, third-placed Queen Lizzy beat bottom side Salford Waggon on their artificial pitch at Little Lever.

The victory lifted them four points clear of the team one place below them, Radcliffe Vets A, who lost at Salford Victoria, but have three games in hand on Lizzy.

Tony Weall scored a hat-trick and Carl O’Malley made it four for Victoria, John Robinson netting for Radcliffe Vets A to prevent a whitewash.

Tom Collins hit a hat-trick and Arron McCarthy scored one goal to give Lizzy a narrow 4-3 victory over Waggon, for whom Peter Lock, Ian Holland and James McGranagan scored to give them a confidence-booster in their bid to climb off the bottom to the table.

They have a game in hand on the two teams above them, who are both just one point better off.

Sunday's only other game was in Division Two where leaders Bolton Lads and Girls Club extended their lead to six points, although they have played two games more than Horwich St Mary's, who have a superior goal difference.

Two goals by Stu Vasaya gave BLGC victory over third-placed Old Bolts on their 3G pitch.
