POLICE dealt with a number of incidents overnight including burglaries and driving offences.

Here are some of them that they have reported:

  • There were a number of attempted burglaries and vehicle crimes that took place in Golborne and Lowton overnight. One man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after he was accused of leaving a garage carrying gardening equipment.
  • A man was arrested on Scot Road in Lowton on suspicion of burglary.
  • A driver was taken into custody after allegedly being behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.
  • A man was arrested on a retail park in Leigh on suspicion of burglary and being in possession of a bladed article.
  • A man was handcuffed on Atherton Road in Hindley on suspicion of drink driving. He was allegedly driving erratically.
  • A woman was arrested on Clarke Street in Leigh on suspicion of drink and drug driving

The local neighbourhood police's morning team clocked on this morning, Sunday, to find six prisoners in the cells.

One man was there after being accused of committing two burglaries and six cases of shoplifting as well as drug-driving offences.

Another man was in custody on suspicion of drink driving.

One man was there on suspicion of burglary and possession of a bladed article.

Two men were at the station after allegedly committing burglary offences.

Another man was in custody after being accused of carrying out a domestic assault.

There are 40 incidents yet to be dealt with in the area and 10 people have been reported missing from home with officers working hard to find them.

Police are urging residents who have reported incidents to be patient as they get through their workload.
